[attr="class","illeana i"]her eyes dart up from the clipboard she's reading before he's near, a small budding knowingness she can't seem to shake. something about the echoes of mortality against the confines of space and all, isn't it?

"ah, right - we were expecting you."

in some kind of terms, anyway. she hadn't known whether it would be marcus kotov or someone from his office. in the end, it seems this man got the short end of the stick that day.

the clipboard is tucked behind her, then, and she straightens out her back in the same breath.

"follow me, please."

a short distance away - no more than five minutes, perhaps - finds a group of healing oriented trainers working in tandem on various pokemon. some are wild, no more than innocent dwellers of the forest caught in the crossfire while some are trainer owned and raised. they all look pained, beaten and bruised. she slides to a halt and angles her body toward him with a curious look in her eyes.

"would you prefer to provide medical attention or assistance in subduing the dragons?"

"mm," he gives a non-committal answer in reply, not recognizing her yet. he lets her lead him towards further down the path towards a group of trainers working with each other and the local dragon populace.

"okay - do you need any supplies beforehand?"

a brief glance toward the nearby tent confirms they have more than enough supplies, but she understands some procedures require a little more. besides, it's better to be overly prepared than not at all, right?

and for his question, she redirects her attention away from supplies and back onto him.

"oh, i'll be handling the dragons."

she is no longer of use for healing - that time has long since come and slipped away into oblivion. her mist's departure has a small, bittersweet note attached to it but it is a small price to pay in the end.

"it shouldn't take too long, so i'll come back once i'm done to assist where i can, okay?"

the day passes without event. just going through the motions as one of marcus kotov's mules. though CIAN MAHER may have stolen his future from him, there is something to be said in repetition and normalcy, as he finds it more than easier to complete each mundane task that roll out ahead of him.

[break][break] but it's only when the last of the patients prove an upheaval, biting at the apparent sharpness of his stitches, that the annoyance begins to curdle in caden maher's veins.

[break][break] the other man shoves at him, threatening to sue, and caden finds himself flat on his ass — a gash spreading lengthwise across his forearm.
